What we'll do
Walk Description: We will take an intentional, slower-paced walk that will include some interesting topics to chew on with fellow walkers, as well as some silent time to ponder connecting with The Diving, with nature, with one another, and with our deepest selves Sloans Lake Park is located on the northwest side of Denver next to Lakewood, Edgewater, and Wheat Ridge. Inthe mid- to late 19th Century, Sloans Lake was actually a thoroughfare called South Golden Road connecting Denver to Golden. In 1866, Thomas F. Sloan accidentally unearthed the lake while digging for a well. (Surprise!) Over a century and a half later, Sloans Lake offers 177 acres of public park where residents can participate in an array of activities including hiking, jogging, and biking trails which surround the lake. The lake itself hosts many activities including paddle boarding, fishing, boating, and water skiing.
Location/Schedule: We will meet at 7am in front of the bathroom facilities across from Wolff St. and W. Byron Pl. In case you need to use the restroom, please plan to arrive before 7:00am as we will leave no later than 7:05am. We should be done walking no later than 8:15. You can of course leave early if you need to.
Parking: There will be plenty of parking throughout the neighborhood and at the Sloans Lake Park parking.
Dog Friendly! We will be doing a loop going back to our starting location. (Please be sure you are confident your dog can handle 2-3 miles in a variety of weather conditions and that your dog is calm, well behaved. Your dog MUST stay leashed and please bring baggies.)
Breaks, Restrooms: The bathrooms may not be open, so please try and go before you come to the walk.
Weather: Due to varying weather conditions, please come prepared with enough layers and/or waterproof gear to keep yourself comfortable during the walk.
Cancellation Policy: We only cancel in extreme weather conditions on our path, such as ice, hail, or lightning. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date conditions.
