Walk Description: What better way to spend Black Friday than to join Walk2Connect Coop in supporting REIs#OptOutside movement (https://www.rei.com/opt-outside) for the third year in a row? Well enjoy a leisurely stroll through Cheesman and Washington Parks - two of Denvers loveliest urban parks. Your friends, family, even your dog, will enjoy Life@3MPH, savoring the sights, sounds, and smells of a late autumn (early winter?) afternoon in the great outdoors. Doesnt that beat shopping? REI and Walk2Connect are both cooperative businesses - communities of people working together to provide valuable services, while reshaping the economic landscape.
Your Walk Leader: Dawn Kirkwood is a Walking Movement Leader and founding Member Owner of Walk2Connect Coop.
Parking/Meeting Spot/Schedule: Well gather at about 12:45 pm at the 12th Avenue and Humboldt St entrance to Cheesman Park, near the Route 10 bus stop. There is ample street parking in the neighborhood and within the park. This will be a leisurely stroll at a conversational pace with no particular agenda beyond enjoying our beautiful surroundings and each other. Please feel free to bring snacks to share. Well pause briefly for snacks and chatting in Washington Park, before looping back to Cheesman through the Denver Country Club neighborhood.
Weather:This is a rain or shine event, within reason. If the weather is really nasty and we decide to cancel, well notify everyone by email/meetup message at least an hour in advance of the scheduled start time. You can check the status of the walk by texting Dawn[masked]-3670.
Trip Notes:This is a family and dog friendly walk. Small kids in strollers are OK. Its late autumn, so the weather may be cold and changeable; dress accordingly, preferably in layers. Wear comfy walking shoes and non-cotton socks. Bring water, sunglasses, hats, gloves, camera. Restrooms are available at Wash Park, but otherwise will be a challenge.
