    LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- A 13-year-old was injured being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday morning, the Lakewood Police Department said. The accident happened about 6:30 a.m. at West 26th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard. The teenager was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in critical condition. The crash closed the intersection during the morning commute.

    A Lakewood man was sentenced to 28 years in prison for child abuse that resulted in the death of his 3-month-old daughter, Naomi Jones. Josiah Lamarr Jones, 22, appeared in Jefferson County District Court on Tuesday where he was handed his sentence after pleading guilty on Friday felony child abuse resulting in death, according to a news release from the Jefferson and Gilpin Counties office of the district attorney.

On March 3, 2016 Lakewood police were called to 5353 W. 16th where they found Naomi Jones unresponsive.  She was transported to Denver Health Medical Center and then transferred to Childrens’ Hospital Colorado. She died on March 6.
