Just last week, crews were called to a 12-inch main break near Sheridan Boulevard and Mississippi Avenue. The break closed northbound lanes of Sheridan as repair crews got to work. The tools and materials crews used to repair the break came from Denver Water’s warehouse.

Just before 8 p.m. that day, Archer said a clerk the 7-Eleven at 551 E. Colfax Ave. was taking a smoke break, and since he was working alone, asked customers to wait outside so he could finish his cigarette.

Archer said the clerk went outside and flagged two Denver police officers who were driving by. That’s when they saw Nelson walking down Colfax toward Pearl Street, clutching a cash register drawer.

3 suspects in custody following carjacking

DENVER - Three people are in custody in connection with a carjacking early Monday morning that led to a crash near the intersection of East 4th Avenue and Grant Street in downtown Denver, a spokesman for Denver police said.

The carjacking happened around 3:20 a.m. near 24th and Walnut streets. A short time later, the suspects crashed near East 4th Avenue and Grant Street.
