#Whiskywednesday feat. #brichladdich #classisladdie Laddie Scottish Barley Bottling Note Created by Jim McEwan from whisky matured in American oak casks alongside Lochindaal, and chosen to represent the classic, unpeated distillery style. Bruichladdich's new signature bottling is made with 100% Scottish barley. Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt Nose: Elegantly sweet with honey'd barley, boiled sweets and orange petals. Wafts of sea air. Palate: Red apples and white grapes, with touches of sweet cinnamon and brown sugar. Still softly coastal. Finish: Mineral-rich malt, with toffee and more honey. @visitdenver @ goldentrianglecreativegroup @dnvrbrewscruise @denverartmuseum #Whiskywednesday #islay #singlemaltwhisky #denverbrewery #colorado #britishgastrobrewpub #caskales

#Whiskywednesday feat: the Octave Cask 14 yea...

#Whiskywednesday feat: the Octave Cask 14 yeat from the Macduff distillery. In 1958, the Macduff distillery was founded opposite Banff, by a syndicate under the name of Macduff Distillers Ltd, the group included George Crawford, Brodie Hepburn, James Stirret and Morty Dyke. A couple of years later production commenced and, over the course of the 1960s, further stills were installed, bringing the total to four. The Macduff distillery draws its waters from the Gelly Burn and lies on the east bank of the River Deveron in Banffshire. During the 1960s, Scotch whisky exportation increased threefold. In 1972, William Lawson Distillers acquired the distillery and eight years later they, in turn, were acquired by Martini Rossi. During William Lawson’s tenure, they established Macduff as a component of the William Lawson blend, a very popular Scotch whisky which sells in excess of fifteen million bottles yearly. Indeed, Macduff whisky has long since been used as a blending product. Despite this, Macduff is still bottled as a single malt, though sometimes under the name Glen Deveron. Just fewer than half a million bottles of single malt whisky are released from the distillery each year and the majority are exported to France. In 1990, a further still was added, bringing the total to five. Five is a rather unusual number of stills, indeed there is only one other distillery with a combination of two wash and three spirit stills, namely the Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye. The Macduff distillery is currently under Bacardi ownership following their acquisition of Martini Rossi in 1992. Bacardi subsequently transferred the distillery to John Dewar and Sons. Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt Nose: Malt and shoe polish, marzipan, beeswax and honey. A little pepper and cocoa, hints of aniseed. Palate: Oak and spice, fresh herbs, mint and star anise, toffee apples and butter. Finish: Long and spice-driven #Whiskywednesday #octave14year #macduff #caskstrength #highlands #malt #singlemaltwhisky #denverbrewery

#Whiskywednesday feat. #Littlemill24yr. ...

#Whiskywednesday feat. #Littlemill24yr. TheCask.com states "This 24 year old Littlemill from the Creative Whisky Company’s Exclusive Malts range was distilled in late 1988…which is a little mystifying seeing as all the information I’ve read on Littlemill says the distillery was closed from 1984 to 1989. Who knows, it’s not unlikely that a bit of production was happening by the end of 1988 and the dates out there are just approximate, but it is a little eyebrow raising. Around this time, major refurbishment took place, but whether that happened before (probably) or after this was distilled just might be a mystery for the ages. In any case, this one was matured in an American Oak re-fill hogshead and yielded 348 bottles. The Nose: Quite the unique nose on this one. Initially, there’s floral honey, under-ripe melon, vegetal notes of fresh-cut grass, and slight feint-y notes of plastic. Lemon peel and tart lemon icing follow along with wet linen drying on the line. Quite a bit of wood represented as well; fresh-cut oak, vanilla extract, and a hint of anisette. Adding water to this gives it more “roundness” and plays up the lemony, fresh laundry aspect as well as keeping the damp leaves, grass, and fresh oak in the mix. The Palate: Thin, a little oily and woody, though pleasantly so. Still quite leafy and vegetal with a honeyed sweetness that carries over from the nose. Some slightly charred bread, a saltiness, and faint touches of wet tobacco leaf add a unique counterpoint to any expected sweetness. Quite tannic, with more cut oak, raw clove, allspice, and coriander. I was surprised to find a faint smoky quality towards the end, not peaty nor ashy, sort of like the charred logs the morning after a fire. The Finish: Lingering with dark chocolate, clove, salt, a dried herb quality, and that wisp of dry smoke. @visitdenver @denverartmuseum #Whiskywednesday #littlemilldistillery #denvergastrobrewpub #caskconditionedales #lowlands #loststill #singlemaltwhisky

9 things you (probably) didn't know about Winston Churchill
He is considered one of the defining figures of the 20th century, remembered for his inspirational speeches and for leading Britain to victory in the Second World War. But you might be surprised to learn that Winston Churchill had a patchy academic record, almost married a woman other than Clementine, and was one of the first adopters of the 'onesie'...

#Whiskeywednesday feat. Longrow Red 11 year C...

#Whiskeywednesday feat. Longrow Red 11 year Cabernet Sauvignon Casks: First distilled in 1973, Longrow is produced with a double distillation and heavily peated malt in an attempt to prove that it was possible to produce an Islay-style whisky on the mainland of Scotland. This rare dram hails from the Campbeltown region of Scotland and highlights a 100% peated single malt whisky. This heavily peated malt was first aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 7 years before it spent its last 4 years maturing in former cabernet sauvignon hogsheads. It is bottled at 104 proof. This truly unique and special whisky will make a great addition to any single malt library, specifically rounding out the limited reach of the Campbeltown portion of your collection. Although it is a limited release, you should also be able to find it at some of the most esoteric of whisky houses and bottle shops. @visitdenver @denverartmuseum #whiskywednesday #longrowred #springbank #campbeltown #denverbrewery #caskales #largestdistillerycollection #singlemaltwhisky

#Whiskeywednesday feat. Glen Garioch 12. Introduced to Glen Garioch's standard range in late 2010, this 12yo is a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, and like the other distillery bottlings since the revamp, has been bottled at a feisty 48%. A real charmer. According to the Whiskey Exchange: the nose is earthy, with stewed fruit. The palate is rich, mouthfilling, toasty oak, dried fruit, hint of mocha. The finish spicy and smooth. Well balanced. @visitdenver @denverartmuseum @dnvrbrewscruise @goldentriangleofdenver #singlemaltwhisky #Whiskeywednesday #glengarioch12 #highland #denverbrewpub #caskales #largestdistillerycollection
