Nuisance Abatement Action at 7 Star Motel, 84...

Nuisance Abatement Action at 7 Star Motel, 8400 East Colfax at Verbena Street. Hearing this Friday, December 15, 2017 at 9:00AM. On Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10:00AM the owners and operators of the 7 Star Motel, located at 8400 East Colfax Avenue at Verbena Street were served notice by the Denver Nuisance Abatement Division of the City Attorney's Office and the Denver Police Nuisance Abatement Detectives. The motel operation was later stopped under a court-ordered Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) due to the public nuisances caused by the operation of the motel. A public hearing in front of Denver Excise and License in regards to their motel license is scheduled this coming Friday, December 15, 2017 at 9:00AM at the Webb Building located at 201 West Colfax Ave., 2nd Floor in regards to continuing nuisances that effect the surrounding neighborhoods, it's residents and business owners, including drug sales and possession by tenants, and weapons charges and seizures. Members of The East Colfax Neighborhood Association (ECNA) after a thorough review of the motel operation, existing motel licenses in the area, meeting with the owner and manager, their attorney’s and residents and business owners in the immediate area have decided to oppose and protest the operation and/or any reissuance of a motel license for Ha Rim Corporation Inc. DBA 7 Star Motel, Located at 8400 East Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80220 object to any continued operation of the 7 Star Motel located at 8400 East Colfax Avenue due to continuous criminal activity taking place on the property, including drug dealing and use, prostitution, and weapons being discharged and possessed on the property. Neighborhood residents and businesses have continually notified the Denver Police, City Attorney’s Office, Excise and License Department and City Council in regards to the criminal activity at the motel which directly affects their quality of life. The operation of the 7 Star Motel has proven to be a drain on city and police resources and a public nuisance due to criminal activity at the property. It is not fair to other neighborhood businesses, residents and surrounding neighborhoods when police officers and other city staff are continually sent to the motel for the same issues over and over with no improvement to the mitigation of crime on the property. The motel owner and management are not at the motel and personally regulating activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which leads to more criminal activity occurring, there is a severe lack of supervision and accountability in the operations of the motel. We as a neighborhood do not believe there are any effective strategies the owners of the 7 Star Motel or the city could implement that would stop or curb the criminal activity and public nuisance the property creates. We respectfully request that the Department of Excise and License and City Attorney’s Office deny any continued operation and/or any reissuance of a motel license for Ha Rim Corporation Inc. DBA 7 Star Motel, Located at 8400 East Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80220 We as a community need to be present and testify in regards to the nuisances caused by this business and its operations and the effect it has on your quality of life in our neighborhood. If residents do not show up at the hearing in mass at the hearing , than most likely business will be back as normal for this nuisance establishment. We need you, the residents to step up and take part. This is probably the most important thing you could ever do for our community and start changing the East Colfax corridor in our neighborhood and community. This is important to YOU, your neighbors, your children and the community. If you can't testify please show up anyway. We need to fill the hearing and potential trial with 100's of residents so the E&L hearing officer and judge know we care and the impact this has on our community! A new exhibit takes Colorado down a very stra...

A new exhibit takes Colorado down a very straight, very long memory lane. Aurora History Museum is telling the old stories of the pre-interstate Route 40, also known as Colfax Avenue. Colfax helped build Aurora after World War II. This was the main thoroughfare from the East into Denver and the mountains - that is, until the interstates were built in the 60s. Tourists would stay in the motels, eat at the restaurants and drive by the neon signs. The "US Route 40 and The American Road Trip" exhibit features photographs from Colfax's heyday. Visitors can read the mid-century newspaper ads and the kitschy slogans businesses used to stand out among the rest. Curator Jennifer Cronk says one of the best parts of this exhibit is a map stretching across an 18-foot wall that shows Colfax in its entirety. "US Route 40 and The American Road Trip" runs from Dec. 12 to May 6 at the Aurora History Museum, located at 15051 E. Alameda Parkway. Admission is free. http://www.9news.com/mobile/article/news/local/next/take-a-trip-down-memory-lane-and-get-to-know-colfax-avenue/497497779

Please take down if not appropriate. I found a lovely, sweet, senior Shar-Pei and have searched and searched for his parents. Unfortunately we think he was dumped:( So, we are looking to find him a wonderful, loving, forever home. He has traveled far and has scars to prove it. Please help me find him a home that he can get the unconditional love he deserves. He was born April 3, 2006 and still has lots of energy. He is very sweet, a love-bug and gets along with my dogs. Please call me for a meet and greet and lets find him a good home! 720-476-9536

“Tacos Acapulco on the corner of Colfax and Yosemite is my favorite restaurant in my neighborhood. It’s dirt cheap, delicious, and just the right amount of greasy.” Favorite dish there: “All the food is good, but the pupusas are the best thing on the menu and come hot and crispy right off the grill. Add a side of plantains and horchata. There’s only a small bar with a few stools inside, but there’s almost always a seat on the patio.”
