FINAL open house to review the findings of the Upper Montclair Basin Storm Water Study Tuesday, April 10 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Montview Presbyterian Church in Fellowship Hall at 1980 Dahlia Street in Park Hill! You are invited to the FINAL open house to review the findings of the Upper Montclair Basin Storm Water Study. A 15-month, community-based study of flood-prone areas in the Upper Montclair Basin will culminate with a public meeting to discuss the study’s findings and next steps on Tuesday, April 10 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Montview Presbyterian Church in Fellowship Hall at 1980 Dahlia Street in Park Hill. The Upper Montclair Basin includes the areas of Congress Park, South City Park, the southern portion of Park Hill, Bellevue-Hale, Montclair, Mayfair, Hilltop, and Crestmoor. The study team worked with area stakeholders, community leaders, business owners, and the greater public to first identify and then investigate solutions for several highly impacted, flood-prone areas in the basin. This final public meeting will offer opportunities for the community to learn more about study results and next steps on the following: Hale Parkway and the area around the intersection of Severn and Jersey Streets, including results of a traffic study and next steps in developing a hybrid solution of pipes and greenway. 16th Avenue in Park Hill between Colorado Boulevard and Glencoe Street, including information on current City efforts to bring larger storm pipes and green infrastructure to improve drainage. 14th and Krameria Street and nearby areas along Colfax Avenue, including updates on challenges and opportunities in these flood-prone, business and residential areas. Resources and information on how individuals and neighborhood blocks can work to implement localized interventions to minimize the impact of nuisance flooding. In early 2017, Denver Public Works embarked on an ambitious and innovative study to re-think stormwater management in the Upper Montclair Basin by adopting a community-first approach. The goals of the study were to identify near-term drainage improvements that address regular nuisance flooding, plan for long-range flood control in the event of a very large storm, and strive for a more flood resilient basin through green infrastructure and smarter land use. A range of stormwater management strategies were suggested, discussed, and evaluated by local residents, community leaders, and business owners during five rounds of public meetings. The public meeting will include a check-in and orientation from 5:30- 6 p.m. and an open house from 6 - 7 p.m. Background information, maps, meeting minutes, and meeting materials are available at: denvergov.org/uppermontclairbasin. The City and County of Denver and the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District are jointly sponsoring this study of flood and stormwater management in the Upper Montclair Basin.

Denver Police District 2 Community Meeting on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 6PM The next 2CAB meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 1800 to 2000 (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) at District 2 HQ (3921 Holly St). The 2CAB meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis. We will cover crime patterns, trends and discuss prevention techniques that we are employing to reduce crime throughout the District. Everyone is invited!
A proposed text amendment to the Zoning Code sponsored by Councilman Espinozo if passed, would require CPD to send written notifications by mail of any proposed rezonings to all owners of property within a 200-foot radius of the property proposed for rezoning, both before a Planning Board hearing and the City Council public hearing. This would improve notification to neighboring property owners. Currently, Registered Neighborhood Organizations receive such notice (thanks to the 1979 ordinance sponsored by INC), but some parts of the city do not have RNOs and some RNOs do not have active zoning committees or regular meetings to discuss rezonings. Several cities in Colorado and across the United States have such notification requirements. The Planning Board hearing on this proposed text amendment will be on April 18 and the City Council hearing will probably be on June 18.
