"Drivers killed 14 people walking on Denver streets in 2017. Half of these fatal collisions happened on Federal Boulevard. Take a look at WalkDenver's new report and it’s no wonder why. Federal Boulevard is designed like a highway but cuts through residential neighborhoods and carries large numbers of bus riders."

Why Federal Boulevard Is Denver's Deadliest Street - And How to Fix It
The Colorado Department of Transportation and Denver Public Works know how to fix it, but will they? Drivers killed 14 people walking on Denver streets in 2017. Half of these fatal collisions happened on Federal Boulevard. Take a look at WalkDenver's new report and it's no wonder why.

"Colorado’s monthly average one-bedroom apart...

"Colorado’s monthly average one-bedroom apartment rent did increase to an average of $1,004 per month. Denver is a different story and came in at 21 of the most expensive one-bedroom rent at $1,299 for 2017. ... However on the bright side, Denver dwellers love their city — and between the sun, snow and scenery, Denver has consistently ranked among the nations best places to live."

How Rent Changed in Denver Over the Last Year
Among buying a car, finishing college and getting married, owning a home has been revered as a lifetime accomplishment. In recent years, however - as real estate prices climb in Denver - it has become increasingly difficult for that aspiration to become a reality in the Mile High.

Recycle Christmas Trees through Denver’s Tree...

Recycle Christmas Trees through Denver’s Treecycle Program! Trees will be collected over two extended weekends in January People who participate in Treecycle are helping support the City’s goal of increasing its recycling rate to 34% or greater, as outlined in Mayor Hancock’s 2020 Sustainability Goals. Here’s how to participate in the 2018 program: On Friday, January 5 or Friday, January 12, Denver Solid Waste Management customers should set their trees out for collection at their normal trash set-out location no later than 7:00am. Trees will be collected no later than 5:00pm on Monday, January 8 or Monday, January 15. Only real trees are accepted for recycling; no artificial or flocked trees. Remove all decorations, lights, and tree stands. Please set trees at least two feet away from trash, compost and recycling containers, cars, and other obstacles. Do not place trees inside bags or collection carts. Denver residents who are unable to participate in Treecycle can recycle their trees for free at two drop-off locations through Wednesday, January 31: Cherry Creek Recycling Drop-Off (7352 E. Cherry Creek Drive South) Havana Nursery (10450 Smith Road) It’s important for residents to keep in mind, extra trash crews will not collect trees before or during Treecycle. All trees collected during Treecycle will be turned into mulch, which will be made available for free to Denver residents at the City’s annual Mulch Giveaway and Compost Sale in the spring! For more information about Treecycle or drop-off locations and hours, please visitdenvergov.org/treecycle

Hey Neighbors! Accessory Dwelling zoning has ...

Hey Neighbors! Accessory Dwelling zoning has been in place in Villa Park for some time but most of us don’t know much about it. Are you zoned for accessory dwellings in Villa Park? Would you consider this "ADU" option?

Home values are spiking wildly in west Denver. Are hundreds of backyard cottages part of the affordability solution?
Carriage houses, garage apartments, granny flats and backyard cottages have been, for decades, part of the fabric of some of Denver's most established and well-off neighborhoods - offering a place to accommodate family members or to rent out for extra income.

Consumer Tips! from Maro Casprian from the De...

Consumer Tips! from Maro Casprian from the Denver DA's Office and Carolynne Diocese-Wright from the Colorado Dept of Regulatory Agencies(DORA)/Division of Real Estate: In dealing with unsolicited marketing to sell your home, research states that they tend to: 1. Target owners who have owned their home for 20+ years. 2. They are usually looking for owners that are 50+ age or older. 3. Know the value of your home. This can be found on the Assessor's Website at https://www.denvergov.org/content/denvergov/en/assessors-office/real-property/alternative-search.html. Neighborhood sales are listed when search your own home to see recent sales. 4. Get 3 bids to evaluate the value of your home from appraisers. 5. Take your time and keep other family members in the loop. Any second opinions will probably scare off unreputable dealers. Other tips - You can also look up real estate agents/brokers on the DORA website https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/dora/division-real-estate.If you have bad loans or under foreclosure pressure contact Colorado Housing Connects at 1-844-926-6632, http://www.coloradohousingconnects.org or the Colorado Foreclosure line at 1-877-601-HOPE, http://coloradoforeclosurehotline.org/Home.aspx Other scams the DA Office anticipates in the near future is the reissuing of Medicare Cards. The new cards will not have Social Security Numbers on them. The reissuing is to begin in March 2018. This will take 2 years. They anticipate unsolicited phone calls contacting you to see if you have received your Medicare card and ask for verification. This will be a scam. Do not give any information.
