We are no more—and no less—heroic than the suffragists and abolitionists of the 19th century; and the labor organizers, Freedom Riders, Stonewall demonstrators, and environmentalists of the 20th century. We are ordinary people, living our lives, and trying as civil-rights activist Dorothy Cotton said, to ‘fix what ain’t right’ in our society.”

Born today in Germany in 1816 Emmanuel Gottlieb Leutze came to the US when he was only nine years old! In 1839 he returned to Germany to attend the Dusseldorf Art Academy where he focused on studying historical painting, which by European academic genres was one of the most well respected styles. Known primarily for his paintings of European and American history, he was heavily inspired by literature like James Fenimore Cooper’s “Leather Stocking Tales”, as seen in the Anschutz Collection’s “The Last of the Mohicans”. AARP Arkansas Tackles Ballot Issue One

As November voting quickly approaches, an important ballot issue has surfaced that, if adopted, would have a significant impact on civil suits, especially involving value of life. Therefore, we want to ensure that all Arkansans have background knowledge and information on how each of us could be directly impacted by this legislation. It is extremely important that Arkansas voters are informed and aware of the long term effects changes to this amendment would impose on the fair determination and outcomes of civil lawsuits.
