Nine Places to Celebrate Record Store Day
Music junkies rejoiced when the first Record Store Day happened ten years ago at some 1,400 independently owned record stores around the country. A decade later, the event, which happens on Saturday, April 21, is still going strong, and this year's list of Record Store Day limited-run special releases is extensive and spans genres.

"Diego Rodriguez-Warner’s “Honestly Lying” at the MCA Denver is a dazzling museum debut by a young artist in his own hometown. The work on display is smashingly visceral, overloaded with big and colorful collages you can’t ignore. The technique he uses to produce it — covering wood panels with paint and stain like a painter, but also carving into their surfaces the way a printmaker creates a block for printing — is something I’ve never seen before." Read the full review of Diego's "Honestly Lying" by Ray Mark Rinaldi here: https://theknow.denverpost.com/2018/04/16/honestly-living-contemporary-art-denver/181917/

Beverage of the Month! The Maharaja The Mahar...

Beverage of the Month! The Maharaja The Maharaja Imperial India Pale Ale from Avery "Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, meaning "great", and rajan, meaning "king". Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley - fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence."

Theater review: "Native Gardens" a fun and furious battle of the neighbors at the Denver Center
Pablo and Tania Del Valle have moved into a stately fixer-upper in a Washington, D.C., neighborhood. Originally from Chile, he's a lawyer angling for a partnership at a tony firm. She's a quite-pregnant Ph.D. candidate in anthropology, whose family has called New Mexico home longer than the state has been a state.

Today marks the day of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake that shook the west coast and affected many California based artists. One of which, was Grace Carpenter Hudson, who’s artworks were destroyed in the fires that started in the aftermath of the earthquake. A sad day for the artist, but Hudson continued to produce a mass amount of paintings throughout her life, producing 684 numbered portraits.
