Colorado Students Swim With Sharks: 'Right In Front Of My Face'
DENVER (CBS4) - In a landlocked state, some have found it difficult to properly study oceanography and marine sciences. In an effort to encourage more Colorado teens to explore sea life, one local organization teamed up with the Denver Aquarium to bring the ocean to the students.

Federal Blvd and West Colfax among the 6 streets. “When cities want to, there’s a lot they can do to make bus service faster and more reliable. One of those transit improvements involves tweaking traffic signals so bus riders spend less time stopped at red lights and get to their destinations faster. Denver Public Works and the Regional Transportation District are planning to do just that on six streets in the city.”

RTD, Denver Public Works Prep to Speed Up Buses on Six City Streets
Federal Boulevard and West Colfax Avenue are among the corridors slated for "transit signal priority." When cities want to, there's a lot they can do to make bus service faster and more reliable. One of those transit improvements involves tweaking traffic signals so bus riders spend less time stopped at red lights and get to their destinations faster.

New tech. aims to speed public transit times

In the future, buses will get greens on more streets. Denver already has funding for Federal Boulevard and West Colfax Avenue.

Denver's Colfax Bus Gets Priority At Green Lights
Supporters say it speeds up buses, shortening travel time. It also improves reliability because it's more consistent, and it could save time and money for RTD if they use less buses or provide more service. On the flip side, it could cause some delays on side streets.

A very thoughtful piece about a plan that could effect Colorado's taxpayers now and in the future.

Why doesn't the Winter Olympics exploratory committee comply with the Sunshine Law? - Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition
The city says the Denver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Exploratory Committee, formed by Mayor Michael Hancock, is not bound by the Colorado Open Meetings Law and, therefore, it can meet however it sees fit. But there is a solid legal argument that the state's open meetings law indeed does apply to the Winter Olympics exploratory committee.

Downtown Aquarium - Denver added an event.

For some adults and children with sensory sensitivity and special need, our exhibits can be a bit overwhelming. Join us as we host Low Sensory Mornings on the second Sunday of every month from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. We will open an hour and a half early with a calmer, quieter setting, turning down the ambient sounds and turning up the lighting. These mornings will offer families that have children or other family members with special needs a subdued environment to participate in all the fun we have to offer! We will return to normal operations at 9:45 a.m. *Admission price is the same as a standard ticket. *Guests are allowed to stay after 9:45am.

'It's so peaceful:' Downtown Aquarium launches 'low-sensory mornings'
DENVER -- The Downtown Aquarium opened more than an hour early on Sunday for quiet time so children and adults with special needs could enjoy the animals and exhibits. On Sunday the aquarium launched "low-sensory mornings" where they turn down the music and turn up the lights hoping to create a less stimulating environment.

Proposed mixed-use development garners mixed reviews from neighbors - BusinessDen
A Denver-based developer wants to build a mixed-use project topping out at 16 stories at the southeast corner of Sloan's Lake Park, but two neighborhood groups aren't on board with the plans. Zocalo Community Development plans to construct more than 300 residential units, about half of which would be designated as affordable housing, on the parking lot along Newton Street between 16th and 17th avenues.
