Hi, Sloan's Lake! I wanted to drop a note and make sure you are all familiar with the Denver Citizen Oversight Board (COB). The COB practices civilian oversight—an ever-evolving field designed to provide communities with a voice in how law enforcement is conducted. We were voted into the City Charter last year, no doubt with much of your help. Under the Charter, the COB is authorized to make policy recommendations to the Denver Police Department and Denver Sheriff Department. We just launched a Facebook page, because we're hoping to hear more from the community. We hope you'll follow it and share your thoughts on policing, incarceration, and oversight in Denver. We welcome your voices at our bi-weekly board meetings and our quarterly public forums!

October 7th was a beautiful fall day in Colorado, which also represented a wonderful opportunity for neighbors and volunteers to gather together for a clean-up day in the West Colfax neighborhood, through Extreme Community Makeover. 90 volunteers from Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cuningham Group, God’s Grace Community Church, Harvest Bible Chapel, Human Services Education Organization, and WeCAN worked together to complete 1 yard clean-up project, 2 community garden clean-up projects, while also cleaning 6 alleys in the neighborhood. Thank you to everyone who participated and made an impact in helping to get a few more projects finished before the winter!
