Bi-Polar – The Thin Edge of Dignity

I’m one of 40 or so elders – I could say seniors – equally nice sounding, but without the gravitas –  or mature– nah, that’s for movie ratings – or, more scornfully, geezers,  or wickedly demeaning  – old farts.  I guess you could say all-of-the-above. After decades of achievements and societal contributions, and professional accomplishments (and being a bit of a pompous ass ) with  a smidgen of pride,  I prefer the politically correct, solemn, and dignified first word choice –  who reside in an Assisted Living Facility (ALF.).

Counter Culture Brewing Will Add Brewery Restaurant to Governor's Park

But the time has come to evolve, say Kevin McCrossin and Justin Martinez, who recently signed a lease at 205 East Seventh Avenue, in the food-centric stretch of the Governor's Park neighborhood.

Counter Culture Brewing Will Add Brewery Restaurant to Governor's Park
When the brewery taproom explosion began in Denver in 2010, it was started by brewers who didn't want to serve food in the traditional brewpub model, and who didn't need to package their beer to stay in business. Before that, craft beer makers had always chosen either one or the other as their business model.

It’s Time to Make The Base Load Review Act History

South Carolinians, take notice. The Base Load Review Act allowed SCE&G to charge us some of the highest electricity rates in the southeast for the construction of V.C. Summer- an abandoned, unfinished nuclear power plant that will never produce power. SCE&G was able to raise our rates 9 times in less than 10 years, including a full year and a half after knowing the doomed fate of the nuclear project. So far, SCE&G parent company SCANA’s shareholders received $529 million of the $2 billion paid by SCE&G customers for V.C. Summer.

Studying Relationship Between Ulcer Medications and Dementia

Proton pump inhibitors, or PPIs, are a class of drugs that treat acid reflux and peptic ulcers. The three most commonly prescribed PPIs are omeprazole, pantoprazole and esomeprazole. In recent years, some studies reported that PPIs increase risk for dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. We hear patients asking questions about this issue, so I’d like to clarify what we currently know about this risk.
