Holocaust Survivor Speaks Out About Bullying to C2E Middle School Students
"I speak to you as an eyewitness to one of the darkest pages of human history of man's inhumanity to man," begins Jack Adler when speaking to 200 students in the Challenge to Excellence Middle School (C2E). Mr. Adler relates his story back to the students by comparing it to the most extreme example of being bullied.

Eyes on the Street: Flashing Pedestrian Signals in Sloan’s Lake, Regis, Congress Park, Stapleton, Hilltop

The intersections of Central Park Boulevard and Xanthia Way, 51st and Lowell, Josephine Street at the Denver Botanic Gardens, Holly and Cedar, and 26th and Newton now have flashing pedestrian crossings.

This article has 4 other Denver locations (Show)

Back in May, Denver Public Works installed a “rapid flashing beacon” at 30th and Downing. The signals are meant to get drivers to yield to people walking and using wheelchairs, and they’re now up and running at five more crosswalks around the city.

Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, has for centuries outshined the darkness of bigotry. "Hanukkah is even more important this year because this holiday brings light and hope into the world at a time when it's really needed," said Melanie Avner of the Mizel Museum, a Jewish cultural center in Denver.

On this day in 1938, Nazis terrorized Jewish people and their homes and businesses in Germany and Austria. The violence was later dubbed “Kristallnacht,” or “Night of Broken Glass,” after the countless smashed windows of Jewish-owned establishments. Today we remember, and we honor those lost. The Mizel Museum is proud to work with Holocaust survivors who share the lessons of the past to help combat hatred and bigotry in the world today. Learn more at www.MizelMuseum.org.

Cranmer Park Sundial Terrace Closure Notice and Update on Construction Timeline

Recently the city received 311 calls/reports regarding the terrace’s deteriorating conditions. After inspection by the city’s operations team, it was determined that the conditions now present public safety concerns and they have placed orange cones in areas where pavers are loose and will be placing fencing around the terrace on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 to close the terrace to public use. Signs will also be placed at the terrace indicating closure and providing information regarding the anticipated construction schedule. Additionally, the city has developed this Cranmer Closure FAQ to help respond to inquiries.

My nephew Dave Lemieux's school assembly abou...

My nephew Dave Lemieux's school assembly about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King is featured as a link on this museum website. Check out the At the Table with Dr. King show for information. I'm so excited that he is coming all the way from Denver, Colorado to Stoneman Elementary School in Pittsburg, CA on January 18th. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for our kids and staff! We are humbled and so filled with gratitude. Maybe you can piggy back with us on that day, and have him present somewhere else in PUSD (but don't hesitate or he will be booked before you know it,) The city of Pittsburg would also benefit from his production especially since it is to be the 50th year since MLK's passing.
