Last Friday, 5-4-2018 the Caboose team operated on the famous Crandic Route Railroad, (Cedar River and Iowa Central ). If this fantastic n-scale layout looks familiar, It was just featured in Ken Patterson's Model Railroad Hobbyist Magazine "What's Neat" Segment. We had a blast operating trains and switching cars. A BIG Thank You to Pat and his wife for the hospitality, and to the regular "ops" crew... everyone made it a fun time. Pat Lana's realistic, expansive sweeping farmland scenes with corn fields and hay fields with individual hay bales being loaded onto a flat trailer certainly take me back to my youthful days in rural Illinois. Pat is a Master Model Railroader and it shows. Pat's railroad has been featured in several magazine articles, including the Great Model Railroads 2013 issue. The layout uses a Digitraxx DCC system with individual power districts, locomotives have sound. The railroad operation uses a CTC CATS system, complete with working signals, radio headsets, switch lists and a dispatcher. Dr. Gerry and Dr. Bob performed the dispatcher role. Pat's humor sure shines throughout the layout. As you operate you start to notice some fun scenes. I love the bear driving away on the tractor from the bee keepers. Fun Stuff!
