    Barely two weeks after Pueblo's Donthe Lucas was arrested on robbery charges, the former Northeastern Junior College basketball star was served with an arrest warrant in the February 2013 disappearance of Kelsie Schelling, a Denver resident who vanished after heading south to tell her boyfriend, Lucas, that she was pregnant.

Denver’s Busiest Parks to Get More Rest Several of Denver’s largest and most used parks will continue to get rest periods during the busiest times of year. The city’s Park Rest Period initiative protects parks and maintains a balance between recreational use and public events. In 2017, Denver’s Parks and Rec instituted a trial program wherein public event permits were restricted in the city’s six busiest parks. During rest periods a park cannot be permitted for a public event. The rest periods, occurring between April 1st and October 31st, ranged from two to four weekends per month, depending on the specific needs of the park.  Each year, the Denver Parks and Recreation Permit Office determines the exact rest dates after historical events are booked, but prior to the permit opening date in early November.     The city and county of Denver hopes to have its new rec center at the northeast corner of Josephine Street and East Colfax Avenue open by December, said Cyndi Karvaski, spokeswoman with Denver Parks and Recreation. On a monthly basis, the center is expected to serve 35,000 people, including many students from the nearby East High School, Karvaski said in an email.

Indian restaurant takes place of tapas

Ganesh Adhikari, who operates Zaika Indian Cuisine in Littleton, and chef Maha-Dev, say they're going to open Mehak India's Aroma restaurant at 250 Steele St. in the spot formerly occupied by Ondo's Spanish Tapas Bar, which closed in late December of 2013.

    Last week, authorities in Pueblo conducted a new series of searches in the case of Kelsie Schelling, a onetime resident of Denver (she lived in the Larimer Square area) who vanished more than four years ago after heading south to tell her boyfriend, Donthe Lucas, that she was pregnant.
