#Whiskywednesday feat. Ailsa Bay: With exacting precision, Ailsa Bay brings whisky-craft and innovation to a new level with its singular vision: The creation of a precision-distilled single malt, perfectly balanced between smoke and sweetness. AILSA BAY IS ALSO THE ONLY SCOTCH WHISKY TO UNDERGO A PROCESS CALLED ‘MICRO MATURATION’. THE DISTILLERY’S NEW MAKE SPIRIT IS FIRST FILLED INTO HUDSON BABY BOURBON CASKS THAT ARE BETWEEN 25-100 LITRES IN SIZE, FOR SIX TO NINE MONTHS. THE RELATIVELY SMALL CASKS – TRADITIONAL AMERICAN OAK BARRELS CAN CONTAIN UP TO 200 LITRES OF SPIRIT – ENABLES INTENSE RAPID MATURATION. THE LIQUID IS THEN TRANSFERRED INTO VIRGIN, FIRST-FILL AND REFILL AMERICAN OAK CASKS FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THE PROCESS IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND WITHIN THE SCOTCH WHISKY INDUSTRY. -Ailsabay.com @denverartmuseum @visitdenver @goldentriangleofdenver #Whiskywednesday #singlemaltwhisky #denverbrewery #britishgastrobrewpub #caskconditionedales #ailsabaydistillery #Scotland

Happy Mother's Day! From Dalí to Rembrandt, here are 9 artists whose mothers became their muses: http://bit.ly/2m2GhUT

    9 Famous Mothers in Art
Anna McNeill Whistler-depicted seated in profile and staring forward―has become an icon of puritanical motherhood, and has featured on national stamps and town monuments. (A statue of her in Pennsylvania is even accompanied by the phrase "A Mother Is the Holiest Thing Alive.") This legacy, however, runs counter to the artist's intention, which was to create a work about color and composition, not about his mother.

Frederic Remington's "The Cheyenne" is considered one of the most important works in the Denver Art Museum's western American art collection, it is also this week's Artwork of the Week feature at the DAM! Already a well-established painter and illustrator, Remington began working with bronze in 1895. The Cheyenne was his sixth sculpture and his most daring design. With all feet off the ground, the galloping horse “burns the air,” as described by Remington in a letter to his friend and author of western novels Owen Wister. While other artists stabilized equine subjects by placing at least one foot on the ground, Remington floats all four, thus capturing the horse mid-stride to create the illusion of movement. Read more about this work, currently on view at the DAM in "Stampede: Animals in Art" here: http://bit.ly/2rfdlZD Frederic Remington, The Cheyenne, modeled 1901 (cast by 1903).
