Have you signed up for Denver's composting service? Food waste is the single largest component going into municipal landfills, where it emits methane, making landfills the third largest source of methane in the US. All neighborhoods citywide are now eligible for compost collection service – Denver Public Works has expanded its program this year to help increase Denver’s current recycling and composting rate of 20 percent to 34 percent by 2020.

Did you know that today is World Kindness Day? Here are some ways Sunnyside neighbors show kindness every day and make our neighborhood THE BEST place to live! 1. Helpful - shoveling your neighbors' snow, keeping an eye on their house, rallying to support neighbors in need on Nextdoor, picking up trash, and a special shout-out to the guy who was filling his tires at the air station at 7-11 who offered to fill mine, too 2. Friendly - saying hello to people as they walk by, meeting neighbors at Sunnyside events, at the park, at the local coffee shop 3. Lovely - those neighbors who take pride in their homes, planting flowers for all to enjoy, trees for our benefit and putting up decorations to make the neighborhood look and feel festive. Thank you for your contributions to our community!

Sunnyside United Neighbors, Inc. (SUNI) is you registered neighborhood organization. We are a group of volunteers who organize to put on events that build community, inform neighbors about issues that affect Sunnyside and Denver, and unite to present a neighborhood perspective on a wide range of issues. Neighborhood meetings are your opportunity to get involved with Sunnyside. We need you to lend your perspective and help us create a network within the neighborhood that makes Sunnyside an even better place to live.
Hi Sunnyside! I wanted to drop a note and make sure you are all familiar with the Denver Citizen Oversight Board (COB). The COB practices civilian oversight—an ever-evolving field designed to provide communities with a voice in how law enforcement is conducted. We were voted into the City Charter last year, no doubt with much of your help. Under the Charter, the COB is authorized to make policy recommendations to the Denver Police Department and Denver Sheriff Department. We just launched a Facebook page, because we're hoping to hear more from the community. We hope you'll follow it and share your thoughts on policing, incarceration, and oversight in Denver. We welcome your voices at our bi-weekly board meetings and our quarterly public forums.
Here are some pics from our November Sunnyside Sipper at Cheese+Provisions! We will not be hosting a Sipper in December. Instead, you should come meet us at Ernie's Bar & Pizza for the 9th Annual Sunnyside Sleigh Ride! Kids and adults can take a FREE sleigh ride through the neighborhood. Ernie's will have specials all night. If you've never been, this is an annual event you won't want to miss!
