Former youth helper at church charged with sex crimes on 2 teenage boys

Potts, who formerly lived in the 700 block of East Jefferson Avenue in Englewood, has been charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, enticement of a child, obscenity to a minor and indecent exposure.

He used to live in the 700 block of E. Jefferson Avenue. He worked at Jubilee Fellowship Church which has campuses in Lone Tree, Lakewood, Castle Rock and Parker. Englewood police told 9NEWS they would not confirm which church he is associated with to protect his victims.

    A former youth helper at an area church turned himself in Thursday to officers on charges related to sex crimes on two teenage boys in 2017, according to the Edgewater Police Department. Officers first began looking into 31-year-old Joseph Potts back in January and he's currently being held at the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility without bond.

Man arrested after shooting at woman, leading police on brief chase in Englewood

According to Englewood officers, the Mercedes pulled into a backyard at a home on the 3800 block of S. Clarkson Street and, when it tried to flee out the back, it hit a parked vehicle. That's when officers were able to take Coons into custody.

Officers first responded just after 2 p.m. to the 3600 block of S. Delaware Street after someone called in about shots fired and a woman being dragged into a dark-colored Mercedes with a recognizable license plate, the Police Department said.

Coons was spotted in the Mercedes a short distance away on the 4000 block of S. Broadway and then led officers on a brief chase, law enforcement said.

Man allegedly fires shots at girlfriend, drags her into vehicle in Englewood

The driver of the Mercedes pulled into the backyard of a home in the 3800 block of Clarkson Street. The driver then attempted to drive out of the yard and hit a parked vehicle. He was taken into custody, and officers seized a pistol and rifle from the Mercedes, police said.

The incident unfolded about 2 p.m. in the 3600 block of South Delaware Street, police said in a news release.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired and a woman being dragged into a dark-colored Mercedes. Officers spotted the Mercedes in the 4000 block of South Broadway, and a short chase ensued, according to the release.

Daniel Paul Alberts, 65, and Timothy M. Alberts, 61, each were charged Saturday with one count of sexual exploitation of a child, according to their arrest warrants.
